A colourful hand made vase!
Mothers Day is the time for flowers. Spring
is in the air, and flowers are in full bloom
again and you can choose flowers from your
own garden, which gives a special home made
touch, or a beautifully arranged bouquet
from a florist. And if you’re short for
time, why not search online where specialist
florists like Interflora will deliver hand
crafted floral arrangements straight to your
door. Visit their site for a range of gifts
that are ideal for
Mothers Day.
A gorgeous flower bouquet will be sure to
make her day, but if you want to add that
special heartfelt touch, try your hand at
crafting your own hand made vase. Because it
will be hand decorated by you, or your
children, your mother will be sure to
treasure it forever.
All you need is a plain vase or empty glass
vase or jar, some enamel paints, and a bit
of imagination. Use fingertips to create
flowers and petal motifs that match your
chosen bouquet, or create more intricate
designs using a fine paint brush to create
stripes, polka dots or a loving message.
Enamel paint is the best material to use as
this type of paint can be easily sealed,
ensuring that your decorative work will
never wash off. This typically means baking
your finished creation in the oven to seal
the paint, or allowing it to air dry for a
couple of weeks. Just read the instructions
on your chosen enamel paint pots for their
recommended sealing process.
Coupons that give mum a helping hand!
Here’s a home made gift that will make any
mother’s day, as they give her the gift of
relaxation! Give your mum some time off from
all of her busy schedule with a book of
coupons that she exchange for chores carried
out by you, while she finally gets to put
her feet up.
All you’ll need is some colourful card and
paper, coloured wool or ribbon, a hole punch
or sharpened pencil, scissors and some
decorative pieces of your choosing – from
stickers to glitter and paint.
First create your coupons by cutting out
your colourful card or paper into
rectangles. You can decorate these in any
way you wish. Then comes the fun part –
thinking of all of the chores that your mum
would love to have a break from. From
washing the dishes, to hoovering and
laundry, this will make you realise just how
much your mum does for you! Pick a selection
of chores and write one on each coupon.
Then, using your coloured card, cut out two
rectangles that are slightly larger than the
coupons. Using your hole punch or sharp
pencil, place your coupons in between that
card and punch two holes down the left hand
side. Then bind them all together by tying
the ribbon or colourful wool through the
holes. Decorate your booklet using your
stickers or whatever decoration you want and
your gift is ready to give!
